Creating Your Future

Creating Your Future

The greatest railroad builder – James J. Hill , was a poorly paid telegraph operator. In addition to that,  he had reached the age of forty and was still ticking away at the telegraph key without any outward appearance of success. Eventually, he formed a definite purpose of building a railroad across the great waste desert of the west. He got the capital and built the greatest of all the railroad system of the United States , without reputation, capital and without encouragement from others ( Except from Napoleon Hill).

Robert Collier once said, “You can be anything you want to be, having anything you deserve, accomplish anything you set out to accomplish if you will hold on to that desire with singleness of purpose.”  In life, if you have too many options, you may not succeed. One of the ways to put a stop to your purpose is to create another purpose.

The Power of Negotiation

The Power of Negotiation

Some years ago, Edwin C. Barnes formed a definite purpose in his mind. His purpose was to become the business partner of Thomas Edison. As at the time his purpose was chosen, Barnes had no qualifications to become a partner  with Thomas Edison. Despite his handicaps, he negotiated his way to become  the partner of the greatest investor that has ever lived.

Building Momentum

Donald Trump, in one of his books, narrated a story about Bill Levitt. He was a big-time real estate agent in the United States of America. At a time, he was building seventeen thousand houses at once, which he called the Levitt town. In the course of his building, he set a goal to stop building after the one hundred and forty thousand building. Few year later, he was able to achieve his goal. Then, he sold his estates to another company and retired. He decided not to build in the  United States until after fifteen years. He eventually bought his company back after so many years but he could not continue with his initial pace. In his attempt to adopt his former strategy, inflation affected him and he lost everything. One of the events that will precede the second coming of Christ is earthquake. In 1994 alone, a 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck the Los Angeles area of the United States. According to the narration by John Maxwell, more than fifty people died and nine hundred others were seriously injured. Over twenty two thousand people were left homeless, seven thousand buildings were considered uninhabitable and additional twenty two thousand buildings sustained major damages. The earthquake collapsed nine hospitals, nine bridges and destroyed several free ways. It was a terrible and unusual natural disaster.
Every believer should learn how to read the handwriting on the wall. The generation of Noah and Lot did not discern the time and that was why they were caught unaware.

Spirit of Adventure

Don’t allow the fear of the Titanic (in 1912) to stifle your mind but rather allow the victory of Vasco Da Gamma to keep you going. In 1497, a man, by the name Vasco Da Gamma was commissioned by the Portuguese king  to find a sea route to the east (India). He was born in Sines, Portugal, around 1460. He lived between 1460 and 1524. He was a Portuguese explorer and the first European to reach India by sea. He was a great adventurer and the first person to sail directly from Europe to India via sea.

Napoleon Hill said, “Impossibility can only be found in the dictionary of a fool.” For you to be dear, you must dare the impossible. There is nothing you cannot achieve if you remove the embargo from your mind. The mind is the battlefield. Read the rest of this entry »

Impossibility is reserved for those that can take risk. Edmund Hilary was the first person to climb the Everest mountain, which is the highest mountain in the world. In 1951, he attempted to climb the mountain but he could not succeed. In 1953, he made the second attempt and he succeeded in the process. He became the first person to break the limit and climb the mountain.

Smith Wigglesworth remarked, “There is nothing impossible with God. All the impossibility is with us when we measured God by the limitation of our unbelief.” Impossibility always vanishes when a man and his God confront a mountain.

A wise man said, ” The impossible is attemptible.” Do not be a rumour-monger, rather be a record breaker. If you want your name to be scribbled on a metal wall, do not rest on your Laurel. Everything in life is impossible until someone attempted it.

The idea of aeroplane was impossible until the Wright brothers attempted it. The idea of Phonograph was impossible until Thomas Edison attempted it . No matter how impossible a thing looks like, if you can think and persevere enough, you will find a way.

Each time you involve God in your situation, everything always becomes possible. The scripture lay credence to this when it says, “For with God, nothing shall be impossible” (Luke 1:37).

Not long ago, I read a story about a scientist that discovered the structure of Benzene. For a very long time, he was trying to discover it but he could not. One night, as he was sleeping, he saw a ring structure in a dream, hexahedral in shape. He quickly woke up and scribble it down. Therefore, to do the impossible, you must be connected to the divine supernatural power.

There are different ways to travel to Lagos from the south: you can take a flight, you can enter a bus and you can also use a power bike. In any attempt to share the experience, the one that took a flight will not really have much to say but the one that took a bus can tell you how he navigated Benin-Ore express road, to Ijebu-Ode, to Shagamu and finally to Lagos. If there are listening audience, they may likely pay more attention to the one that enter a bus than the one that took a flight because he has more experience to share.

On your journey to the next level, your experience is a track record. Shortcut never take you to your destination, rather it takes you far from it. Read the rest of this entry »

A young girl got converted and repented from her old way of living. One day, she came to her pastor for counseling. As she sat down close to the table, the pastor said, “I am going to teach you how to steal, to drink, to lie and to swear.” Being a young convert, she was confused. The pastor continued: “I want to teach you how to steal time out of every day to read something from the book of Proverbs. And then I want to teach you how to drink from it clear, refreshing water, to lie on your bed at night and meditate on its great themes, and to swear that by the grace of God you will put into practice its wonderful teaching.” On hearing the explanation, the girl sighed. (Excerpt from Selwyn Hughes)

A lot of people steal from the government pulse and defraud their neighbors. To be wealthy in all round, you must steal from the word of God on daily basis and be guided by it. For you to be intoxicated, you need to drink the anointing of the Holy Spirit, not olive oil or strong wines. To have a sense of direction, you must lie down during your quiet time and meditate on the word of God. If you don’t have time for the word of God, this world will never have time for you. Don’t say you don’t have time. Susana Wesley gave birth to nineteen children but she also dedicated one hour out of her 24 hours in a day to pray, study God’s word and to meditate.
Selwyn Hughes said, “Millions of people know how to make a living but do not know how to live. They know everything about life except how to live it. I tell you, the more you understand the book of proverbs and the more you put its truths and principles into practice, the more effective will be your living.”
The book of proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Sirach and the Wisdom of Solomon are the citadel of wisdom. If you want to know how to live and be wise, steal from them, drink from them, lie on them and swear with them that you are going to be a doer, not just a hearer.

WISDOM BANK: If you don’t have time for the word of God, this world will never have time for you.

Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Ozele  remarked, “The tea bag does not release its flavour until it gets into hot water.”  Sometimes, people ascribe their failure to lack of opportunities, education, finance or  connection but Robert Burns did not consider any of these as a barricade to the next level. He was an illiterate country boy that was living in abject poverty and also addicted to wine.

Despite his limitations, he rose up to become one of the greatest poet in his time. He did not depend on his credentials but he relied on his potentials and use it to make impact in his generation.
The scripture says, “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God” (Romans 8:19). God has invested so much in you and expects you to bring your hidden potentials into manifestation.
It does not matter the difficulties you are passing through right now, at the right time, God will change your story. “Weeping may endure for a night but joy must surely come in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).
Irrespective of your challenges, never give up. If you can focus on your potentials on a long term basis,  the world will wake up to celebrate you.
The fact is that when you have a dream, people may fight you, circumstance may confronts you, ugly situations may weigh you down but you should not allow them to abort your vision. You should always be reminded that gold does not glitter without passing through the furnace of fire.
Quitters never win and winners never quit. When the going was tough, Robert Burns never quit. Be an imitator of Christ. He was born in a manger but he left this world as a very important person (V.I.P.). I wish you success in 2020.   WhatsApp : +2348054756015 ,  Mobile: 07061575299 ,  Facebook : Abraham Osemudiamhen Ogun , Twitter: @Abrahamoseogun
